How to know your padel level

Knowing your level in padel can be done in several ways, depending on whether you want a self-assessment, an official ranking, or a coach's opinion. Here are the main ways:

1. The unofficial level system (self-assessment)

There is a scale of levels from 1 to 10 used in many clubs to situate players:

Level Quick description
1-2 Total beginner, discovering the rules, little control.
3-4 Amateur hobbyist, understands the basics, but irregular.
5 Good leisure player, starting to build points.
6 Stable play, good technique, correct movements.
7 Very good recreational or regional competition player.
8 Experienced tournament player (P100/P250), solid tactics.
9 High amateur level (P500+), very good reading of the game.
10 Pro or semi-pro level (FFT P1000+, FIP Tour, WPT).

You can self-assess using this scale (or we can do it together if you describe your game).

2. Official FFT ranking (France only)

Since the French Tennis Federation (FFT) began managing padel :

  • You can have a FFT padel ranking, similar to the one for tennis.

  • To obtain a ranking, you need to take part in approved tournaments (P100, P250, P500, etc.).

  • Your ranking depends on your performance and points earned in tournaments.

  • It is updated monthly.

3. Opinion of a coach or club

  • Many clubs and coaches offer a free evaluation or a session.

  • They can give you an estimated level, integrate you into a group at your level, or direct you to suitable partners.

  • Useful if you want to progress efficiently or play with people of the same level.

4. Booking platforms / Matchmaking

Some apps (such as AnybuddyPlaytomicTen'Upetc.) ask you for your level, and some adjust your "ranking as you play (if you're playing with connected accounts).

Conclusion: what now?

If you like:

  • A self-assessment → Ask yourself a few questions about your game with a self-assessment grid.

  • An official ranking → Sign up for an FFT tournament.

  • An accurate assessment → Do a session with a coach.
